Events and Activities Of Spring 2020
1) Back to the 80’s – Fresher Welcome 2020
SZABIST Student Council hosted an 80’s themed welcome get-together for the freshman of Spring 2020 on 23rd January, 2020.
2) Book Donation Drive
ZABWELFARE hosted a book donation drive on 30th January, 2020 in SZABIST Hyderabad Campus for the students of Management Sciences and Computer Sciences.
3) Interactive Session with U.S. Consulate on Women Empowerment
U.S. Consulate, Karachi conducted an interactive session on Women Empowerment in SZABIST Hyderabad on 6th February, 2020. Ms. Christina Tribble, Cultural Affairs Officer was the speaker of the session.
4) Kashmir Solidarity Day
SZABIST Student Council in collaboration with SZABIST Arts Society and SZABIST Oratory Society hosted Kashmir Solidarity Day for the students of SZABIST Hyderabad on 7th February, 2020.
5) Photo Editing and Photo Manipulation Workshop
ACM, SZABIST Hyderabad Chapter hosted an open for all hard skill workshop on “Photo Editing and Photo Manipulation” on 14th Febryary, 2020. Mr. Hamza Memon and Mr. Sajjad Ahmed Lohar, President and Vice-President ACM SZABIST Hyderabad Chapter were the trainers of the workshop.
6) Interactive Session on Smart Exam Preparation Techniques
SZABIST Student Council hosted an interactive session on smart exam preparation techniques on 20th and 26th February, 2020 on the request of freshmen. Program managers and merit scholarship holders were the speakers of the session.
7) Participation in 3rd AKU Sports Olympiad
Students from SZABIST Hyderabad along with SZABIST Hyderabad’s official cricket team participated in various games and sports held at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi on account of 3rd AKU Sports Olympiad.
8) Awareness Session on SME Financing
State Bank of Pakistan conducted an Awareness Session on SME Financing for the students on 24th February, 2020. Mr. Ghulam Ali, Assistant Director Development and Mr. Abdul Haque, Deputy Director Foreign Exchange and Development Finance conducted the session.
9) Awareness Session on International Internship Opportunities
On 25th February, 2020, AIESEC Hyderabad conducted an awareness session for the students on SZABIST on international internship opportunities. They also set up a helpdesk for helping students register for AIESEC.
10) SZABWRITES
SZABWRITES is a series of motivational writing initiated on 1st April, 2020, by the student advisor and marketing department during the times of COVID-19 pandemic, with the purpose of spreading positivity during lock down. Program managers, faculty and SZABISTIANS actively participated in SZABWRITES, which was posted on the SSC Facebook page.
11) Ramadan Rashan Drive
ZABWELFARE conducted a Ramadan Rashan Drive on 15th, 18th and 20th Ramadan in which they distributed rashan bags to the under-privileged people in different areas of Sindh.
12) Aftari Drive
ZABWELFARE conducted a Ramadan Aftari Drive on 25th Ramadan in Hyderabad with proper COVID-19 precautions.

5) How to Excel in Career? - A Career Counseling Session
IEEE SZABIST Hyderabad Chapter and SZABIST Computing Society arranged a career counseling session titled “How to Excel in Career.” Ms. Shahira Mukhtar, Lecturer, MS Department was the speaker of the session.
6) SPSS Workshop
Student Advisor arranged an online workshop on “SPSS: Pearson’s Correlation: Learning SPSS to Manual Working” on 27th October, 2020. Mr. Zuhaib Khokhar, Lecturer, MS Department was the trainer of the workshop.

From 4th – 11th December 2020, SZABIST Character Building Society arranged a trilingual virtual essay writing competition on the topic “Our mission, corruption free Pakistan.”
21) Speech Competition
From 4th – 15th December 2020, SZABIST Character Building Society arranged a trilingual virtual essay writing competition on the topic “Corruption Free Society – A Progressive Society”.
22) Poster/Painting Competition
From 5th – 13th December 2020, the SZABIST Character Building Society arranged a poster/painting competition on the topic “Fight corruption for a better future.”
23) Webinar on Introduction to IoT
SZABIST Computing Society arranged a webinar titled Introduction to IoT on 9th December, 2020. The speakers were Mr. Muhammad Irfan, Research Assistant Electrical Dept., MUET Jamshoro & Mr. Syed Ahmed Raza, Lab Engineer cum junior Lecturer, CS Department talked about the upcoming challenges rising due to IoT & the combat strategy against them.

IEEE Student Branch SZABIST Hyderabad and SZABIST Computing Society arranged a webinar titled “Augmented Reality” on 12th December 2020. The speaker, Mr. Naeem Akbar Channar, Lecturer, CS department talked about modern computer systems using AR.
26) I, Me and Myself - A Motivational Webinar
IEEE Student Branch SZABIST Hyderabad and SZABIST Computing Society arranged a webinar titled “I, Me and Myself” on 14th December, 2020. The speaker, Ms. Shahira Mukhtar, Lecturer, MS department, talked about psychological issues among students amidst the lockdown crisis being faced.
27) Modern AI System webinar
IEEE Student Branch SZABIST Hyderabad and SZABIST Computing Society SCS organized a webinar titled Modern AI System on 17th December, 2020. The speaker was Mr. Ahsan Memon Senior AI Architect Renesis Tech (PVT) Ltd. Lahore who talked about rising trends in the AI industry and opportunities in the world ahead.
28) Workshop - Adobe Premiere Pro
IEEE Student Branch SZABIST Hyderabad and SZABIST Computing Society SCS arranged an online workshop on Adobe Premiere Pro on 18th December 2020. Ms. Aafia Siddiqui, a BSCS student of SZABIST Hyderabad showcased her video editing skills and brought awareness to students about the simplicity of software usage and the complexity of its applications.
